What is a Hobby, Really?

To me, a hobby is more than just a pastime — it’s an escape. A secret doorway that pulls me away from the noise, the chaos, the heaviness of the world… and gently places me in a realm where time slows down, and everything feels softer. It’s where thoughts hush, stress fades, and reality loosens its grip.
That escape — for me — is reading.
A book is not just paper and ink; it’s a portal to peace. The moment I hold one in my hands, it feels like a warm, cozy space — quiet, safe, and filled with infinite possibility. As I turn its pages, I breathe in a scent that feels almost sacred, calm, eternal, and untouched by the world outside.
The library, the home of books, is my sanctuary. The hush between the shelves, the whisper of pages turning, the timeless perfume of old stories — there’s nothing quite like it. These books aren’t just companions; they’re my best friends. They speak when I need words and listen when I have none. They carry me gently out of this often cruel world and into realms where love, magic, and peace reign.
Within those pages, I meet people — characters so vivid they feel real. I laugh with them. I cry beside them. I root for their joy as if it were my own. And when the story ends, always with hope, always with love, I close the book with a smile — feeling like I’ve returned from a journey I never want to forget.
Reading isn’t just a hobby.
It’s a passion.
It’s a refuge.
It’s my everything.
A temporary dream… that leaves a forever imprint on my soul.
